My 4-year-old spent a solid hour laying out the track in a loop around the living room, then rebuilt the whole town a different way before dinner. Everything pulls apart without a fight, which matters when cleanup time comes.

The little plastic connectors snap together and pull apart so easily that my 6-year-old can rebuild the whole town by herself. She's spent two rainy afternoons sending the train past the little station and houses she arranged, then tearing it all down to start over.
